Justin Preece is a Faculty Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Pankaj Jaiswal (Dept. of Botany & Plant Pathology, Oregon State University). Justin’s work focuses on software development and data analysis in support of two multi-year, cross-institutional projects, Gramene (NSF #1127112) and cROP (NSF #1340112). His research centers on data visualization and its role in helping to discern and communicate clear trends and results from increasingly large and heterogeneous data sets, with particular attention paid to plant genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolic and regulatory pathway analysis. Additionally, he has interests in semantic computing and ontological inference. Justin is also a freelance orchestral and chamber percussionist, avidly plays and coaches soccer, and serves as the drumline instructor for the OSU Marching Band.
