Native CDFI's

Course Description: 

Native Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) provide financial resources and training programs aimed at tribal community development. This interactive webinar will teach participants about how to work with CDFIs, where CDFIs fit in the overall funding landscape, and how to create their own CDFI.

The objective of the webinar is to introduce participants to the basics of CDFIs, identify key Native CDFIs that are active in different regions and how participants can take advantage of resources provided by CDFIs.

Course Overview:

• Identify key Native CDFIs active in different regions;
• Working for CDFIs and taking advantage of the resources they provide;
• How to create your community’s own CDFI;
• Partnering with other financial institutions.

Drew Tulchin is a seasoned presenter on topics including financial wellness, local economies, affordable housing, earned income strategies for sovereign independence, building sustainable organizations, impact measurement, and non-profit financing.
Drew Tulchin is a seasoned presenter on topics including financial wellness, local economies, affordable housing, earned income strategies for sovereign independence, building sustainable organizations, impact measurement, and non-profit financing. His experience spans for-profit, non-profit, public and philanthropic sectors. His work has generated more than $100 million for economic wellness. Tulchin has consulted in economic development in the U.S., Native American Tribes, and 40+ countries.
 
Tulchin has nearly a decade working in Indian Country. His experience includes raising capital, training CDFIs, working with local NGOs, addressing housing, marketing, and improving products for organizations that serve under-served populations. He currently sits on the Board of Cha Piyeh, Inc., a Native American CDFI providing financial education and services to Ohkay Owingeh Tribal members in New Mexico.
